Spark Plugs!

Well its been running a little rough for the last month, maybe longer but steadily getting worse, most noticably if I change up too early at low revs, it was misfiring, stuttering until the revs picked up and then it smoothed out

so today I bought some new plugs to see if I could cure the problem

new vs old click for large version

Perhaps I should have took a pic against a better background to make it clearer to see, but looking closely the old plug has really worn out, and the gap really wide compared to the pre-gapped new plug on the left

I think that the fuel/air mix at low rpm/high load has possibly wiped out the flame so to speak, resulting in the symptoms described

A quick test run of local roads featuring a country lane, up a hill, then some duel carriageway up and downhill and level, and nice smooth service is now resumed!!!

I kick myself now at how much fuel I may have wasted over the time its had a problem, all for the sake of a fiver on some new plugs

The plugs I removed I estimate to have done around 40,000 miles in my ownership.
